Dedicated to Saving Lives and Supporting Communities Across Staffordshire
Staffordshire First Aid Group was founded in 2009 by Roland Hulse, with the vision of creating a volunteer-led organisation dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of participants and spectators at various events. Our journey began with an official launch in 2012 at Birchenwood Playing Fields in Kidsgrove, where we were honoured to have the Town Mayor, our local MP, Radio Stoke, BBC Midlands TV Today, and the Evening Sentinel join us for an event that marked a significant milestone. This event was recognised by both local and Central Governments as the first volunteer “First Aid Group” established by an amateur sports organisation in Britain.
Over the years, we have proudly trained fourteen volunteers to a high trauma standard, equipping them with the skills necessary to provide crucial first aid at events, including our own North Staffs Junior and Youth Football Leagues. In recognition of our efforts, Staffordshire First Aid Group, along with Staffordshire Ladsandads, was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. We wear the Royal Crest on our logo with pride, a symbol of our unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.

Our team continues to grow as we welcome new recruits as trainee First Aid Officers. Through our in-house training programme, we provide comprehensive training, high-visibility uniforms, trauma kits, AEDs, and two-way radios, ensuring our team is fully prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in critical situations. All of this is provided at no cost to our volunteers, as we believe in removing barriers to service and empowering our team to make a difference.
In March 2019, we celebrated the launch and official opening of our new First Aid Post at Trubshaw Cross Playing Fields in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. This facility, generously donated by our friends at Reliance Medical, serves as a testament to our ongoing dedication to the memory of the Late Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Doug Brown, who founded Staffordshire Ladsandads in 1967. His legacy continues to inspire us as we support the North Staffs Junior Youth League and beyond.
Our Commitment
At Staffordshire First Aid Group, our commitment is simple yet profound: to bridge the gap between an incident and the professional care provided by the NHS. We understand that in those crucial moments, providing life-saving support and reassurance to the casualty can make all the difference. Our volunteers are trained not just to respond to emergencies but to offer compassionate care that helps individuals feel safe and supported until further help arrives.
We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of first aid training and ensuring our volunteers are equipped with the best tools and knowledge available. Our mission is to continue expanding our reach, training more volunteers, and serving our community with the same passion and dedication that has been at the heart of Staffordshire First Aid Group since its inception.
